Senior Manager, Engineering - Fintech (Payments)

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Payments to join our Payments Service Domain in Berlin responsible for building a world-class payments platform that processes millions of transactions globally.

As Senior Engineering Manager you will be leading a group of engineers and engineering managers to build global solutions while closely collaborating with product managers, analytics, other engineering teams to drive the adoption of our payment platform across our global brands. 

• Define and own the engineering strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Payment Services applications, ensuring successful integration across global brands.

• Lead, mentor, and support Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers to enhance effectiveness and grow top talent.

• Drive architectural and system design best practices for high-load, accuracy-critical systems, and participate in architecture reviews to uphold quality standards.

• Set and exceed standards for security, reliability, performance, and scalability to maintain a trusted payments platform.

• Continuously improve engineering processes, including documentation, staffing, delivery, and project management.

• Partner with talent teams to recruit, retain, and develop strong engineering talent while leading cross-functional initiatives.

• An engineering background, being able to evaluate complex technical decisions and identify potential technical problems and suggest solutions. 

• Proven recent experience in building and maintaining global payment systems, with a strong interest in emerging trends and key players in the global payments landscape

• 7+ years of engineering management experience, with demonstrated ability of managing managers (2+ years).

• Proven ability to grow teams, recruit and retain strong engineering leaders as well as performance management. 

• Responsibility for a high complexity and high traffic project or application, experience with building large distributed systems.

• Being able to adapt to change and find pragmatic solutions.
